Boston University Chamber Orchestra

BU School of Music presents an evening of musical exploration with Boston University Chamber Orchestra led by conductor Stefan Asbury, featuring three masterful works. The program begins with Arthur Honegger's Pastorale d’été (1920), a delicate and serene evocation of a summer morning, composed just after World War I as a reflection of peace and renewal. Next, we delve into the rich, impressionistic world of Franz Schreker's Chamber Symphony (1916), a piece that reflects the height of Viennese Romanticism before the upheaval of the 20th century. The concert concludes with Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 (1802), composed during a period of personal crisis as Beethoven grappled with the onset of his deafness. Despite his struggles, this symphony is filled with optimism and energy, a testament to Beethoven's indomitable spirit.
