Credit Card Acceptance at Boston University
Boston University is committed to processing credit card and other electronic payments properly and securely. Schools, centers and departments that have been authorized to accept credit card or electronic payments on behalf of Boston University for gifts, goods or services are known as “BU Merchants”.
Any department that seeks to accept credit cards or electronic payments must submit a request form to Cashier Services. No University unit, department or employee may contact a credit card processor (PayPal, Stripe) and/or social media (Facebook, Twitter) directly to obtain access to credit card privileges for Boston University business needs. The sale of goods and services to entities outside the university community may raise special considerations (e.g. unrelated business tax, accounting or legal issues, etc). Questionable sales should be reviewed by the Office of Comptroller and/or the Office of General Counsel.
