Nicole Tirella, Senior Vice President for Financial Affairs, CFO, and Treasurer
Nicole Tirella, MSA, CPA, named Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer in January 2024 where she directs Boston University’s financial affairs (accounting, financial systems and reporting, asset and liability management), administration, debt and treasury functions, research financial operations, risk management, sourcing and procurement, and internal audit and compliance. Joining the University in March 2020, Nicole has served in various roles including her most recent as Vice President for Financial Operations and University Controller.
Mrs. Tirella holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York, University at Oneonta, and earned a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is a Certified Public Accountant who spent over seven years as an auditor for KPMG, specializing in Higher Education and Not-For-Profit entities. Before coming to the University, she was the Associate Controller at the University of Massachusetts within the President’s Office where she led the compilation of the University System’s consolidated financial statements.
