Yan Wang

An Asian man picture with black suiteAn ordained member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Rev. Yan Wang leads Chinese Christian Fellowship (CCF) in Quincy, Massachusetts. Before coming to the U.S., he was a lecturer at Shandong University, China, where he did his PhD and taught Judaism in the Department of Religious Studies. In 2014, he came to Boston University (BU) as a Visiting Researcher at Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies. During the time of his visit, he came to faith and was baptized into Christ. Upon the expiration of his appointment, he chose to stay and enrolled into the theological studies at BU’s School of Theology. He graduated with a MDiv. Magna Cum Claude in 2019. Rev. Yan Wang is interested to research on the development of the churches in China, as they adapt to the challenging and even hostile circumstances to survive and thrive.

He believes the Presbyterian tradition—its theology, worship,
and governance—can provide the churches with spiritual resources and meaningful
referential values. His plan at CGCM is to work further on the research project.
Besides using CGCM’s library resource, he will also take advantage of the
Center’s expanded networking to consult with interested scholars in the area.
