CGS Alum Victoria Bach is Breaking Records

CGS alum Victoria Bach (CGS’16, COM’18) recently broke BU’s all-time goal and scoring records. During the team’s loss to Boston College in the Beanpot final, Bach became the first player in program history to reach the 100-goal mark.

Originally from Ontario, Canada,  Bach began her athletic career as a soccer player. After watching the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Bach decided to put down the soccer ball, and pick up a hockey stick instead. When she was first getting a feel for the ice, Bach tells BU Today, I’m not gonna lie. I wasn’t very good at hockey.”

Fast forward to 2018, and Bach has become a senior tri-captain of the BU Women’s Hockey team, while simultaneously breaking a number of records in her final year as a Terrier. According to Head Coach Brian Durocher (Wheelock’78) two qualities of Bach’s stand out– her speed and her wrist shot.

During the offseason, Bach continues to work on fine-tuning her craft and plays for Team Canada, where she led the team in scoring last summer to win a silver medal at the Nations Cup. Bach is hoping for a future with Team Canada where she can one day represent her country at the 2022 Olympic Games.

For now, Bach is finishing out her senior year, and after graduation, hopes to continue playing hockey. Last year, Bach was drafted in the National Women’s Hockey League Draft as the 7th overall pick by the Metropolitan Riveters. Read more about Victoria’s career on the ice at BU Today
