A gift from Mike Gould—the first $1 million donation in the history of CGS—has endowed the Center for Interdisciplinary Teaching & Learning’s fund for undergraduate research projects. His gift has already helped engage a record number of students in faculty studies and more than doubled the number of research opportunities for undergraduates.

The former chairman and CEO of Bloomingdale’s and the parent of a current BU student, Gould wants to provide students with a chance to expand their skills beyond textbook learning, “an opportunity to really grow far beyond what they thought was possible,” he says.

“Mr. Gould understands the importance of hands-on research experience and close student-teacher interactions in helping students to discern majors and careers, and in keeping them deeply engaged in their education,” says Dean Natalie McKnight. “We are extremely grateful to him for making these powerful experiences possible for so many students now and in years to come.”
