AI Administrative Processes Task Force

The Boston University AI Administrative Processes Task Force was established in February 2024 by former Interim President Kenneth Freeman to explore, assess, and recommend AI solutions aimed at enhancing administrative functions across the University. The task force’s mission was to explore ways to boost efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation while carefully managing any associated risks. Comprised of staff leadership across various departments, schools, and colleges, the group examined the role of AI in higher education through five collaborative workstreams: Process Assessment, Technology Evaluation, Training & Development, Legal and Ethical Considerations, and Centralized Support.

To thoroughly evaluate AI opportunities and challenges in a large and complex University environment, the task force initiated pilot programs involving three different software platforms, engaging 65 participants from key administrative areas. In Summer 2024, the task force submitted its final report to the President’s Office for review by President Gilliam. You may view the report HERE.
