CIMS “Auteur Film” Course Hosts Production Workshop

Last week, students in Sean Desilets’ “Auteur Film: Claire Denis” class participated in a production workshop taught by production specialists at Boston University’s Shipley Center. During the workshop, students were instructed on how to use CIMS’ newly acquired cameras, tripods, lighting equipment, and sound equipment. The workshop was hosted in preparation for the students’ final project, for which they are working in groups to produce a short film influenced by themes in Denis’ films.

The course is a study of the auteur theory that is focusing on French filmmaker Claire Denis for the current semester, and includes viewings of ten of her feature films. The course is also the first CIMS course to include a production component of this kind.
