Meet our Class of 2025!

Paulina Azzu 

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Media Studies with a minor in Marine Science

While at Boston University Paulina has worked on many film projects as editor, and explored her interest in Marine Science by interning in multiple labs across campus.

Post-Grad: After graduation, Paulina would like to pursue film editing in New York City.

 

Violet ChenViolet Chen

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Media Studies and Bachelor of Science in Film & Television

 As a student, Violet produced 2 documentary and 2 short films, and completed an honors thesis in Cinema & Media Studies entitled “Alienation and Assimilation: Rethinking Asian American Cinema”.

Post Grad: In the Fall, she will matriculate into Duke University to begin a MA in Critical Asian Humanities.

 

 

Gerry Hwang 

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Media Sciences and Bachelor of Science in Advertising

As a student in the Cinema & Media Studies program, Gerry produced 3 short films, studied abroad twice, once in Prague and another in Los Angeles.

Post-Grad: Gerry will pursue work in a film production/distribution company in Los Angeles, where he’s currently interning for two separate companies.

 

Alaina Minarik

Alaina Minarik 

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Media Studies and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry

As a dual-degree seeker in the humanities and the sciences, Alaina spent her time at BU completing multiple research projects in the Chemistry department while also publishing a film analysis in the Kilachand Honors College Journal Kaleidoscope. She also completed two short films, including one experimental about the consequences of chemical research.

Post-Grad: This Fall she will begin a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry with a continued eye toward her more long-term aspirations in filmmaking.

 

 

Wendy Morera 

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Media Studies

While a student, Wendy studied abroad in Sydney, Australia and interned for the Sydney Film Festival. This past year, she has completed an honors thesis in Cinema & Media Studies with a project entitled “The Politics of a Lens: Věra Chytilová’s Manipulation of Looking”

 

 

 

Yiru Pan 

Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Cinema & Media Studies

As a student, Yiru worked as a Media intern, and lent her skills as a volunteer to the BU After School program helping youth learn to produce video projects.

Post-Grad: Yiru will be staying around a little longer to earn her Masters in Television Studies from the College of Communication at Boston University.
