Energy Efficiency for Urban Housing Project Receives Renewed Support
The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Longer-Range Future’s project, “Enhancing Energy Efficiency for Urban Housing”, last month received renewed support from Wells Fargo to fund its ongoing research. The project aims to identify the factors that drive energy use and determine effective programs that can achieve greater energy efficiency, while considering residents’ comfort levels and desired energy-use needs. The new funds will allow for the implementation of strategies to improve energy efficiency and quality of life at Madison Park Development Corporation, as well as lay the groundwork for future collaboration with other local affordable housing providers.
The multidisciplinary effort involves professors across departments: Prof. Michael Gevelber from the College of Engineering, Prof. Nalin Kulatilaka from the Questrom School of Business, Prof. Robert Kaufmann from CAS’ Earth and Environment department, and research assistant Marta Marello (GRS ’13). The project is currently based at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and receives additional support from BU’s Initiative on Cities (IOC).
