CAS MENTORING INITIATIVE KICK-OFF

Join us to kick-off the Mentoring Initiative with two days of workshops focused on building mentoring skills and competencies for full-time faculty and staff. Three identical in-person sessions will be offered at the same times on both days to accommodate different schedules. You are welcome to sign up for any or all of the sessions. The Mentoring Initiative will continue with a series of programs throughout the academic year. Daily Schedule: 9–10 am: Becoming an effective mentor — An interactive session focused on articulating effective mentoring practices, outlining potential benefits and outcomes of mentoring, and ways to employ best practices. 11 am–12 pm: Establishing expectations and rapport — A hands-on opportunity to explore techniques for establishing rapport and expectations with mentees, including activities focused on draftinga mentoring plan. 1:30–2:30 pm: Culturally responsive mentoring — Participants will explore effective ways to mentor effectively, thoughtfully, and cross-culturally across a variety of difference ssuch as nationality, gender, race, and family status.
