Tiana Farrant, CEM, CO-CEM

Tiana is a driven internationally certified and state-certified emergency manager and homeland security professional who is passionate about creating safe, prepared, and resilient communities in the face of ever-increasing acts of terrorism and technological and natural hazards. She has varied experiences spanning a 20+ year career across local, state, and federal governments; non-profit, education, and commercial private sectors; and the U.S. military. 

Tiana joined the City and County of Denver in January 2018. Since then, she has led the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) and Stakeholder Preparedness Review (SPR) for the Denver Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant program, managed the Training and Exercise Program for the Office of Emergency Management, and served as the Emergency Preparedness Training and Exercise Manager for Denver International Airport. She is currently a Senior Emergency Management Specialist with the Office of Emergency Management and is responsible for the Training and Exercise Program, Continuous Improvement Program, and Duty Officer Program. 

Before working for the City and County of Denver, Tiana was a Hazard Mitigation Planner and federal contractor to FEMA, and a Community Planner for the U.S. Department of Transportation. While earning her Master of City Planning degree, she completed work experiences with the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, the City of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the University of Boston. Before graduate school, Tiana was the Boston District Service Department Manager for SimplexGrinnell – a commercial provider of fire alarms, fire sprinklers, security, and other life safety/emergency services. She also served four years on active duty in the U.S. Army as an Air and Missile Defense Officer. 

Tiana holds an M.C.P. in Urban and Regional Planning from Boston University, a B.S. in Geospatial Information Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Sustainability from Boston University, and an Executive Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
