Experience Classics Outside the Classroom

Getting Involved

Despite our smaller size, we have a vibrant community. We have two student organizations, the Undergraduate Classics Association (UCA) and the Boston University Philhellenes (BUPh). These organizations host several events throughout the year including Gorefest! – an annual reading of Greek and Roman horror, our Spring comedy performance, and the Summer Study in Greece study abroad program. The UCA hosts weekly teas where studentsĀ  discuss different topics in Classical Studies while enjoying tea and cookies. We also have the Classics House, a beautiful brownstone on Bay State Road. Students who are majoring or minoring in Classical Studies are eligible to live thereĀ among peers with similar passions.

Additionally, our department hosts a number of events through out the year ranging from our lecture series on New Approaches to Classics to stunning dance performances by the Martha Graham Dance company.
