Supporting First-Generation Students

Newbury Center

Boston University defines a first-generation undergraduate as a student whose parents/guardians/ caregivers did not earn bachelor’s degrees (although elder siblings or cousins may be attending college already or have earned four-year degrees). The Newbury Center was founded to provide support, mentorship, and community to first-gen students at BU. You can find out more about the Newbury Center and their events and services here.

Also, read here about Alpha Alpha Alpha, BU’s honor society for first-gen students at BU, which includes undergraduates and graduate students from Classical Studies.
