Classical Studies PhD Student

Amanda received her BA in both English Literature and Classics from Marshall University in WV in 2016 and her Post Baccalaureate certificate from the College of William and Mary in VA in 2017. She joined Boston University’s Classics department in the fall of 2017 to begin her PhD career. Her research interests include: modern reception of myth, nature and the natural landscape in antiquity, and absolutely anything pertaining to trees. She is currently working on a dissertation titled “The Living Tree in Greek Epic”. Starting in the fall of 2022, she will be teaching WR 120 for the Writing Program which will heavily focus on the Odyssey and its reception. In her free time she enjoys hiking, going on adventures, and making friends with trees.
