Boston University’s College of Communication is pleased to offer application fee waivers to the following:

  • U.S. military veterans with Honorable Discharges or are on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • Employees of Boston University
  • Boston University seniors and alumni who graduated in the past two years
  • Consortium students: Boston College, Tufts University, Brandeis University
  • Undergraduate Pell Grant recipients

Special Programs

  • National service organization*, including: Alpha Phi Omega (APO), AmeriCorps, City Year, Peace Corps, Teach for America
  • Leadership Brainery
  • Jackie Robinson Foundation
  • McNair scholars
  • Posse Foundation scholars
  • Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) National Communication Association
  • Outside fellowship organizations*, including: AmidEast, DAAD- German American Exchange, Fulbright, IIE, LASPAU

Participation in a program not listed above may still qualify you for an application fee waiver, provided it meets the following criteria:

  • Mission explicitly aligns with COM’s Statement on Diversity
  • Is represented or has chapters at more than one U.S. university campus

*Current participant or recent alumni (within the last two years)

Other

  • Documented financial hardship, including but not limited to undergraduate Pell Grant recipients
  • First Generation college student (where neither parent(s) nor grandparent(s) have obtained a four-year degree)
  • Current students and alumni of*: Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions; Historically Black Colleges and Universities; Hispanic Serving Institutions; Minority Serving Institutions; Native American-Serving Non-Tribal Institutions; Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions; Tribal Colleges and Universities
  • Extenuating circumstances
  • You were offered a coupon code by a COM faculty or staff member
  • You attended a College of Communication event (including online event, webinar, conference, etc.)
  • You visited COM for an Open House, Visit Day, or tour with a graduate assistant

*Current student or recent alumni (within the last two years)

To receive your application fee waiver via email, please fill out the form below after starting your application (but before submitting your application – paid application fees cannot be refunded). For the form, you’ll need your application ID number (CAS ID) and program(s) to which you’re applying. Please allow our office at least five business days to review the form and email you a fee waiver code.
