Advertising, PR students Spring Break in NYC

For the ninth consecutive year, a group of 12 undergraduate and graduate advertising majors from the College of Communication toured six advertising agencies in cold New York City over part of Spring Break. The goal of the annual trip, organized by professors Tobe Berkovitz and Christopher Cakebread, is to expose students to a variety of agency cultures, to hear first hand where the agency business is headed, and to get a head start on that most difficult of processes: looking for a job post graduation.

This year students visited Publicis, New York, Kirshenbaum Bond and Partners, Cline, Davis, Mann, BBDO, Kaplan Thaler and TBWA/Chiat Day. The agencies presented examples of their current work, and answered the students’ questions about their agency and the industry in general. The hosts brought in professionals from account management, planning, media, creative, production and the digital and mobile world.

For the second year, a group of public relations majors joined the New York City trip. These 13 students visited the New York Times Company, Showtime Networks Inc., Marina Maher Communications, MTV Networks Music Group, Ketchum, RF Binder, Cohn & Wolfe, G.S. Schwartz & Co. and Burson-Marsteller.
