COM Dominates in Student Categories at Hatch Advertising Awards

COM advertising students took home 28 of the 30 student awards last month at the 62nd Annual Hatch Awards, one of the country’s premier competitions for New England creatives in marketing and advertising.

Nupur Chowdhury (COM ’23) took home the prestigious Next Gen Award. She received her master’s in advertising from COM in January.

Another COM alum, Michael Sullivan (CGS ’04, COM ’06), led the campaign winning the Best of Show award with the Arnold agency for the Progressive Insurance campaign featuring Dr. Rick, the counselor for people who are becoming too much like their parents.

“We know how talented, hard-working and determined our portfolio students are,” said Pegeen Ryan, associate professor of the practice, advertising. “When they are recognized with as many awards as they were this week, the rest of the advertising world gets to see that as well. Congrats to all on their outstanding creative work.”

Added Doug Gould, COM professor of the practice, advertising: “It looks easy when it’s done, but the students put a lot of work into this. They deserve the spotlight. And while we have done very well this year, it’s important to commend the students whose work was not elected but is no less remarkable in our eyes.”

The Hatch Awards honor New England work with award categories in print, video, audio, digital, mobile, and web-based content. The awards continue the tradition of celebrating the very best in creative excellence in the region, judged by top professionals across the country.
