Film & TV Students Win Big at Production Awards

Film and television students at COM earned top honors in four categories and honorable mention in four others at the annual Student Production Awards sponsored by the Boston/New England chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

BUTV10, Boston University’s student-produced and managed content distribution service based at COM, was behind six of the eight award recipients.

“BUTV10 is back,” said BUTV10 General Manager Stephannie Joseph. “Congratulations to all of the honorees and everyone in the organization for working hard to produce quality content as we readjusted to our ‘new normal’ on campus amid the pandemic.”

Sheila Sitomer, the academic adviser for a winning video produced for the Massachusetts Center for Unexpected Infant and Child Death, said the team handled a difficult project with the care it required.

“On that first day in class, this team did not hesitate to choose this client, knowing how emotionally challenging it would be for everyone involved,” Sitomer said. “They approached the subject matter with such sensitivity and compassion.”
