This page is for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Communication only.

All College of Communication (COM) students may pursue minors in any subject area where minors are available at BU. Minors will not be listed on your diploma but will appear on your transcript after graduation.

The process for an undergraduate COM student to declare a minor is as follows:

  1. Determine which Boston University minor program interests you.
  2. Consult with a COM Undergraduate Affairs Academic Advisor, your assigned Faculty Mentor, and/or the minor offering school/department for input on which minor area may best support and/or enhance your professional area of study.
  3. Complete any required pre-requisite course(s) before you are formally eligible to declare the minor.
  4. Please submit the form below if you are a COM undergraduate student and wish to declare or drop a minor.

We strongly encourage students to take at least one course in a potential minor area before formally declaring. COM will NOT declare a minor if you do not meet the pre-requisite to do so.

A formal list of BU minor offerings and requirements can be found in the Boston University Bulletin.
