About Muyang Zhou
Prior to BU
I study Interpreting & Translation, and Spanish as second foreign language at university. It was a wonderful experience where I dabbled in Western literature, society and history through four years' research on languages. I am devoted to bridging the gulf between Chinese and Western cultures, promoting communications among people of diverse origins. I did my internship at iWeekly in Shanghai, mainly focusing on news about fine art, music and films.
Why Emerging Media Studies
Emerging media is profoundly influencing the lifestyle of people in modern society. The emotional distance it creates and the psychological aspect of social media tremendously interest me. Apart from academic perspective, I hope to equip myself with professional capacity of making emerging media products. EMS program at Boston University combines profession and academics quite well and that's the main reason I choose it.
Most Looking Forward To
Boston is well-known for its abundant historical heritage and humanity atmosphere. As the birthplace of American culture, it serves as a microscope for America, and some traits of American society could always be traced back to early days of Boston. I hope in the following year at Boston, I can explore as much as I can valuable historic treasure in Boston, and familiarize myself with the glorious culture and history of America.
As for Boston University, what I look forward of course in the first place is tremendous progress in academic studies, and an overall lift of myself from all perspectives. Also, I can't wait to make new friends in Boston! I hope COM students including myself are for the most part outgoing type, always willing to get to know different people!
After Graduation
I want to find myself a permanent job or an internship after graduation in Boston or other cities in America, and work there for several years. When suitable time comes, I think I will go back to China for more opportunities in career.
A Bit About Me
I study language and humanity subjects as an undergraduate student, so things like literature and history always appeal to me a lot. Apart from academic, I am a huge fan of music, especially indie rock (fav. The Jesus and Mary Chain). I know quite a few about rock bands and we could talk about that for days and weeks. I'm a frequenter of cinema, livehouse, theatre and exhibitions. I do hope I can find friends who share same interests with me and we could hang out together! I'm looking for partners for library life as well.
