About Roxi Morris
Roxi hails from the Midwest with impressive communication and marketing experience. Learn more about her and how the Media Ventures program fit perfectly with her background.
I grew up in Franklin, Indiana and recently graduated from Hanover College. There, I studied Communication as well as was part of the Business Scholar’s Program, which supplements a student’s major with business experiences and knowledge. I also studied abroad both in Italy and Australia. I love traveling so those were amazing opportunities for me.
When not traveling, I helped with our Student Broadcasting Association. I served as the President of the organization as well as its Marketing Manager. However, what I am most proud of would be the creation of our show. We were able to create and promote a variety show about not only campus but the surrounding area as well. This was the first regularly scheduled programming of this sort made by our group.
Also during my undergrad, I worked as a freelance videographer, website designer, and social media marketer. I helped small businesses from Franklin go digital as well as gave them advice on how to best use social media to their advantage.
I really enjoy scuba diving, playing ukulele, and watching movies too. I was originally drawn to the Media Ventures program due to its combination of both theory and practice, which reminded me quite a bit of Hanover’s Business Scholars Program. Yet once I stared learning more about the program itself, I fell in love with its focus on innovation.
Technology is constantly changing and I want to use it to improve the lives of others. My thesis project right now is focusing on developing an application that will allow appointment based businesses to post last minute openings for users to book. For example, if someone was going to an event that night and suddenly realized they needed their hair styled, they could open the app and see what appointments salons have open and the potentially discounted slots available. The idea is to help both businesses fill sudden openings as well as individuals who suddenly need an appointment.
I am beyond excited to be a part of this program and cannot wait to see what the rest of this year brings.
