Speakers & Honorees

Eric H. Holder, U.S. Attorney General, delivered the University’s 137th Commencement address. Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr, director of the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) and professor of medicine and epidemiology at Columbia University, spoke at the Baccalaureate Service. Jonathan L. Priester (COM ’10) was the Student Speaker.

Also receiving honorary degrees were: Edward Albee, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright; William Coleman, Jr., former U.S. secretary of transportation; and Osamu Shimomura, 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient and BU School of Medicine professor emeritus.
