Newbury Center

The Newbury Center helps support the academic, professional, and social success of Boston University’s first-generation students, who we refer to as “Terrier F1RSTS.” First-generation students are a key part of contributing to the diverse academic culture at BU. The center opened in January 2021 with funding by an endowment created with funds from Newbury College, a private liberal arts college that served a significant first-generation population before closing its doors in 2019. The Newbury Center aims to close the gaps between first-generation students and their continuing-generation peers through programming and services that empower first-generation students to better navigate the structures of higher education. The Newbury Center celebrates the triumphs and experiences of our Terrier F1RSTS to help them achieve higher at BU and beyond.
