Streaming Copyrighted Content in a Classroom
It’s easy to display your computer screen and audio in the COM classrooms. Each classroom is equipped with a control panel either on the wall or located at the instructor station. Our staff have standardized each of these panels to ensure they use consistent terminology for ease of access.
Our classrooms do have the ability to display content that may be copyrighted for education purposes. However, faculty and staff frequently encounter problems streaming from sites that provide access to copyrighted content (i.e Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, AppleTV etc.).
Unfortunately this is due to copyright protections that streaming companies have built into their websites that prevent videos playing on external screens. This is why only audio plays through the classroom A/V system while the projector screen is black and the movie still plays on the desktop or laptop.
Try changing how you are connected to the A/V system (i.e. Airplay, HDMI cable, or Desktop Connection) Streaming can have more success via Airplay.
