Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 6/7/19

During the week of June 10th

Park Test Well #3

  • The drilling subcontractor completed the high-performance geothermal exchange system piping and installed a temporary test head on the test well piping.
  • Starting Tuesday, 6/11, according to the construction manager, the testing agency will be on site to perform the thermal conductivity. The testing will involve circulating the flow of water through the system to measure the thermal exchange with the ground. Once started, this testing will run continuously for 48-hours, utilizing a generator to provide power to the instrumentation and equipment.
  • On Thursday 6/13 and Friday, 6/14, upon completion of the thermal conductivity testing, the construction manager anticipates the subcontractor will be cutting the high-performance geothermal exchange piping below grade and installing a temporary manhole for protection.
