During the weekend of June 8th

• The project team and GSDM administration have organized a building shut-down starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday and ending at 5 p.m. on Sunday. During this time only Public Safety, Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and maintenance staff will be allowed in the building. Work will be underway in both stairways #1 and #2, where work staging and activities will prevent access by residents, patients, faculty, staff, and students. Activities will include saw-cutting openings in the existing exterior walls to allow for the phase 2 installation of the new stairway exhaust system. During this time, the existing windows will be covered with plywood in preparation for their removal from the exterior on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

• On both Saturday and Sunday, installation of metal studs and sheathing on the exterior walls will continue for both the seven-story west and two-story north additions. Both additions are expected to be weather tight by July 3, 2019.

During the week of June 10th

• Workers will be on the work platforms at the south, east, and north sides of the existing GSDM building to continue working on the new building façade. Drilling will continue on all three sides of the building for the installation of clips and rails that will be used to hold the new façade in place.

• Installation of new windows will continue on the south elevation. The new window frames are being installed from the outside over the existing windows. The final step will be to install the glass panels in the new frames, kicking off the interior work to remove the old windows from the inside, starting on June 27th on the south side of the building.

• In the west connector spaces, workers are making great progress on the installation of the new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection infrastructure, which will serve the seven-story west addition.

• Crews will continue installing metal stud framing and exterior wall sheathing on the new north and west additions in expectations of making the additions weathertight (fully enclosed from exterior weather elements).

• Buildout of the two new resident, student, faculty, and staff elevators in the northwest corner of the west addition will continue.

• Crews will be installing the new skylight frames and glass over the next two weeks.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
