Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 6/21/19
During the week of June 24th
Parking Lot N
- Next week, the construction manager will be mobilizing their operation for the geothermal production well program. This involves setting a temporary office trailer within the fenced area in the northwest corner of Granby Lot N.
- The contractor will be stockpiling excavated soil material within the fenced in area of the lot.
- Parking will remain in the spaces outside of the fenced area from the south to the east, including the designated handicapped spaces adjacent to Sargent College.
Alleyway
- Site preparation in the alley way work will involve the contractors removing a portion of the retaining wall and guardrail at the west end of the alleyway at Granby St. The contractor will also regrade alley at Granby St entrance. Police detail will be onsite and this entrance to the alley will be closed while these temporary improvements are made.
- After completion of the survey layout of the geothermal well locations, the contractor will begin with the pre-excavation of the bore hole. The survey will verify utilities or any obstruction at GT-11, which is adjacent to Sargent College. This will proceed west down the alleyway not the next several well locations.
- This work will be within a fenced area set up from the Northeast corner of Sargent College to a point midway. Granby St. Parking will be unavailable within this fenced area. Spaces along the rear of the Bay State Road rowhouses will also be unavailable.
- The contractor will be mobilizing (4) large dewatering storage tanks along the alleyway adjacent to the east end of the Granby Lot.
Park
- To prepare for site, construction contractors will removing a portion of the wood fence and trees in park.
