Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 7/3/19

During the week of July 8th

Parking Lot N

  • The crew will install piping for the dewatering discharge which will extended across the east end of the lot to the catch basin on Commonwealth Ave. A temporary ramp will be constructed over the discharge line where it crosses the Commonwealth Ave sidewalk.
  • The site subcontractor will remove trees adjacent to lot N. Parking spaces in the North East corner of lot N will be impacted the tree removal operation.

Alleyway

  • The site subcontractor will continue to pre-excavate the recorded geothermal well locations laid out by the surveyor to verify utilities. Excavated soil materials are being stockpiled for characterization and disposal.
  •  Water storage settling “Frac” tanks were mobilized into the alley on 7/2 and 7/3.
  • Next Tuesday, the drilling subcontractor will begin drilling to bedrock and setting casing at geothermal well location GT-11.
  •  The site subcontractor will begin a tree removal operation in the alley behind the Bay State row houses.
  • Construction equipment from the alley will be stockpiled in the parking lot N storage area.

Park

  • Next Monday, the drilling subcontractor will mobilize the drilling rig on site and begin drilling to bedrock and setting casing at geothermal well location GT-27.On 7/10, a second drill rig will begin drilling through bedrock at geothermal well location GT-27.
  • The site subcontractor will begin a tree removal operation in the park.
  • To access steel bore hole casing material stockpiled in the park, construction will be making multiple trips to the site.
