Geothermal Well Drilling Initiative – Construction Update – 8/2/19
During the week of August 5th
Parking Lot N
- Construction equipment will be making multiple trips from the alley to the parking lot N storage area.
- Using a vacuum excavation truck, the subcontractor will begin removing sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley. The material will be placed within the fenced-in area to settle before being disposed.
- On 8/6, the subcontractor anticipates a tree removal operation along the north edge of parking lot N. Parking spaces along the north east corner of the lot will be impacted during this operation and blocked off temporarily.
- The subcontractor will continue to discharge water from the dewatering tanks into the storm water drainage system as needed.
Alleyway
- The drilling subcontractor has completed the installation of the high-performance geothermal exchange vertical piping at GT-8 and anticipates completing installation of the vertical piping at GT-11. The construction crew will continue drilling boreholes at GT-10 and GT-14 geothermal wells, working down the alleyway towards the west.
- On 7/29, the drilling subcontractor anticipates completing drilling at GT-8 and anticipates the start of drilling at GT-10, working down the alleyway towards the west.
- On 8/6, the subcontractor anticipates removing the trees along the rear of the brownstones.
- Using a vacuum excavation truck, the subcontractor will begin removing sediment from the dewatering tanks in the alley. The material will be placed the within the fenced-in area to settle ahead of disposal.
- Between 8/7 and 8/10, a separate contractor will be undertaking an alleyway repair project. Alleyway access to the Silber Way will be blocked off by construction. Between 8/7 and 8/10, Suffolk will coordinate with BU to allow traffic to access the alley from Granby St.
Park
- On 8/6, the subcontractor is scheduled to begin a tree removal operation in the park.
- To access material stockpiled in the park, construction equipment will be making multiple trips to this site.
