Goldman School of Dental Medicine – Construction Update – 8/2/19
During the weekend of August 3rd
- The construction crew will continue working from platforms outside of the building to install glass in new window frames. The construction crew will also continue installing finish systems on the north, east, and west elevations.
- The construction crew will continue framing and finishing the new interior walls in the west connector spaces.
- On Saturday night, Air Handling Unit #1 (AHU-1) will be shut down at 6 p.m. The shutdown will continue through Sunday and will affect the basement, first, and second floors of GSDM. This shutdown will allow workers to remove existing ductwork for the unit and complete the installation of the new permanent ductwork. Access to the building will not be affected.
During the weekend of August 5th
- The installation of new windows will continue on the existing building. A new work phase will begin in rooms 705, 705 A and B, 708 A and B, 305 A, B and C, 208 B and C, 407 A, B, C and D, and room 212. From 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., crews will be removing the older windows. From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., renovations will begin on the ceilings, window sills, and window shades.
- In the west connector spaces, framing of new walls and the installation of new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems will continue in the seven-story west addition. The construction crew will continue to close and finish walls with drywall on the second, third, fourth, and fifth floors.
- Buildout of the two new resident, student, faculty, and staff elevators cabs in the northwest corner of the seven-story west addition will continue.
- Installation of the brick façade on the two-story north and seven-story west additions will continue.
- Over the next several weeks, final power and piping connections will be made to the new mechanical equipment installed on the roof of the seven-story west addition.
- The construction crew will begin painting the finished walls in the new bathrooms on the second and third floors of the seven-story west addition.
- The construction crew will begin installing a “screen wall” on the new roof. This decorative paneling will enclose the roof-top mechanical equipment.
