Howard Thurman Center – Construction Update – 11/01/19
Week of November 4, 2019
General:
Temporary signage is posted to help the public navigate through the first floor. The main building access is through the Essex Street entrance. A secondary entrance is located on the rear of the building near the ramp to the garage. The main stairwell from the parking garage and up through the fifth floor is primary means of access. The existing elevator will continue to remain functional throughout the entirety of the project. All stairwells are available for emergency egress. Temporary emergency egress signs are posted throughout.
Garage Level
- Miscellaneous mechanical, electrical, and plumbing will continue.
- The installation of both the passenger and the HTC elevators will continue.
- The removal of temporary fencing as well as installation of bollards will occur.
- Generator testing will be ongoing.
On the 1st Level
- Work on curtain wall will continue.
- Installation of glass partitions is ongoing.
- Installation of millwork will continue.
- Painting of the ornamental ceiling and miscellaneous areas will continue.
- Installation of remaining west facade windows will occur.
- Air-handler balancing and testing will continue.
- Miscellaneous HVAC and mechanical will be ongoing.
- Installation of light fixtures will be ongoing.
- Carpet installation in new offices will continue.
- Stair-5 trim work will continue throughout the week.
On the Mezzanine Level
- MEP punch-list to be implemented.
- Final cleaning will occur at the end of the week.
- Remaining furniture install will begin.
On the 2nd Level
- Temporary directional signage is placed to help the public navigate.
- Installation the HTC floor prep and grinding of the floor will begin.
- Painting in both the common areas and construction will continue.
- Installation of millwork will continue.
- MEP finish work is ongoing.
On Levels 3, 4, and 5
- Ongoing installation of the fire alarm system will continue.
- The passenger elevator installation is ongoing.
- Framing of elevator vestibules will begin.
- MEP punch-list to be implemented.
Exterior
- Granite and limestone installation at vestibule will occur.
- Caulking and sealant of windows will continue.
- Installation of the arcade pavers will begin.
- Removal of jersey barriers and temporary fencing will occur.
