Howard Thurman Center – Construction Update – 11/22/19
Week of November 25, 2019
General:
Temporary signage is posted to help the public navigate through the first floor. The main building access is through the Essex Street entrance. A secondary entrance is located on the rear of the building near the ramp to the garage. The main stairwell from the parking garage and up through the fifth floor is primary means of access. The existing elevator will continue to remain functional throughout the entirety of the project. All stairwells are available for emergency egress. Temporary emergency egress signs are posted throughout.
Garage Level
- The installation of the passenger elevator will continue.
- Storage room framing will begin.
- Insulation of mechanical duct and piping will continue.
On the 1st Level
- Installation of millwork will continue.
- Installation of vestibule ceiling will continue.
- Installation of interior doors and hardware will continue.
- Painting of the ornamental ceiling and miscellaneous area will continue.
- Air-handler balancing and testing will continue.
- Miscellaneous HVAC and mechanical will continue.
- Installation of light fixtures will continue.
- Installation of HTC stair trim will continue.
- Buffing and stripping of the terrazzo floor will begin.
On the Mezzanine Level
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing punch-list will continue.
On the 2nd Level
- Temporary directional signage is placed to help the public navigate.
- Painting touchup and construction in both the common areas will continue.
- Installation of interior doors and hardware will continue.
- Installation of millwork will continue.
- Installation of decorative wave ceiling work will continue.
- Installation of chandelier fixture over HTC stair will begin.
- MEP finish work will continue.
- Installation of furniture will continue.
- Cleaning of all 2nd floor HTC rooms will begin.
On Levels 3, 4, and 5
- Testing of fire alarm will continue.
- The passenger elevator installation will continue.
- Framing of elevator vestibules will continue.
- MEP punch-list will continue.
Exterior
- Caulking and sealing of windows will continue.
- Caulking and sealing of arcade stone will continue.
- Structural anchors for signage will be installed.
