Goldman School of Dental Medicine – Construction Update – 1/31/20

During the weekend of February 1:

  • On Sunday, night-shift work will continue, starting at 10 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m., during which workers will be installing new telecommunications services—telephone and data communications—in the existing GSDM building; activities will include transferring the telecommunication service to connections throughout the new north and west additions.

During the week starting February 3:

Floor by floor progress:

  • On the first floor of both the seven-story west and two-story north additions, workers will continue installing lighting and completing the ceiling in the auditorium. Installation of furniture and audio-visual equipment will also continue.
  • On the second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh floors of the seven-story west addition, final painting touch-ups will be made and furniture placement will continue. Crews will be installing audio-visual equipment throughout these floors.
  • On the third floor of the seven-story west addition, work will continue on installing the simulators in the new Simulation Learning Center.
  • City of Boston inspections for Phase 2 will continue next week following a successful week of tests on the new fire pump and generator. This week’s focus will be on testing the new stair pressurization system, a system designed to keep smoke out of stairwells during an emergency, allowing occupants of a building to exit safely (as required by law for a high-rise building).

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
