CFA Renovations – Construction Update – 2/28/20
During February 28th – March 6th:
(Please note that there is work scheduled for Saturday, February 29th and Sunday, March 1st)
General:
Temporary signs are posted to help direct you through the first floor. The main building access is through the west entrance near the concert hall. Stair access directly off Commonwealth Ave will be open and closed periodically as construction continues and signage will indicate status. The central stair is always available for emergency egress.
Exterior:
There is work scheduled for this Saturday, February 29th and Sunday, March 1st. This work will consist of the removal of staging along the southwest façade on Saturday and the installation of window trim along all facades on Saturday and Sunday.
East Façade
- Work on the installation of the ramp and handrails will completed by the end of next week.
- Paving will begin after the ramp is completed.
South Façade
- Removal of the staging on the southwest façade will be completed by the end of next week.
West Façade
- Removal of the staging will begin and continue through the first week of March.
North Façade
- Repairs to the window jambs have begun and will continue into mid-March.
Archways
- Installation of the glazing in the archways on the 1st floor of the building will continue through the end of March.
Interior:
There is work scheduled for this Saturday, February 29th and Sunday, March 1st. This work will consist of the installation of window trim in the student lounge and painting and floor installation in the art gallery on both Saturday and Sunday. Plastering in the art gallery and insulation work in the basement will continue on Saturday.
On the 1st Level
Student Lounge
- Flooring preparation and installation will begin.
- Installation of millwork will be completed by the end of the week.
- Installation of wiring for the new windows will continue through the end of the week.
Art Gallery
- Installation of the glass wall will continue.
- Work on the floor will begin and continue into March.
- Painting of the walls and columns will continue.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
