Goldman School of Dental Medicine – Construction Update – 2/28/20

During the weekend of February 29:

  • On Sunday, night-shift work will continue starting at 10 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. During this time, workers will continue to install new telephone and data communications in the existing GSDM building. Activities include transferring the telecommunications service to connections throughout the new north and west additions. These night shifts will continue from Sunday through Thursday until mid-March.

During the week starting March 2:

  • While GSDM continues to move into the new seven-story west and two-story north additions, workers will concurrently be wrapping up the final details, such as placing remaining furniture and equipment, installing audio-visual equipment and conducting associated training sessions.
  • Following a successful opening of the new 100 East Newton Street entrance on Tuesday, February 25, students, residents, faculty, and staff will be using this dedicated new entrance, while patients continue using the 635 Albany Street entrance.
  • GSDM will continue with training in the new 4th floor patient treatment center in the seven-story west addition, while the project team works to complete the Department of Public Health licensing process that will enable patient care to begin in the new addition.
  • Crews continue to work on the new GSDM loading dock on Albany Street, with electricians bringing power to the area feeding the security gate that will be installed at a later date.

As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
