Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 3/6/20
During the week of March 9th:
- On Monday, March 9th, the site subcontractor will mobilize on site which involves delivering heavy equipment, stockpiling materials, and setting up to begin pre-excavation work. BU Facilities will be removing various site items to be salvaged.
- Electricians will begin disconnecting miscellaneous power feeds for items to be removed from the parking lot area.
- The site subcontractor will begin pre-excavation in the alleyway for the support of excavation panels. They will also be excavating soil materials along the existing underground telecomunications duct bank in the alleyway to verify the as-built conditions.
- Beginning on Monday, March 9th, the geotechnical engineer for the project will be installing monitoring points along the exterior of Sargent College, 226 Bay State Road, the Stone Science Library, and the Bay State Road Brownstones (even numbered side of the road only, adjacent to the site). The monitoring points will be drilled into the brick/mortar along the ground level. These points will be used throughout construction to survey the buildings adjacent to the site.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
