Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 8/7/20
Continued excavation and installation of bracing
During the weekend of August 8th
The site will be open for construction activities on Saturday. Crews will be on site, continuing the installation of H-Piles for the crane pad.
During the week of August 10th
Installation of the H-Piles for the crane pad will continue using a combination of the vibratory and impact hammers. The piles will be driven down to bedrock using the vibratory hammer and then driven the final 10 feet into bedrock using the impact hammer.
Excavation for the building foundations will continue. The first cut (down roughly eight feet from existing grade), has been completed in the podium area and will now continue into the tower section of the building.
Cross bracing will be installed for the support of the excavation system in the podium portion of the building.
Installation of the inclinometers #4 (along Commonwealth Avenue) and #5 (along Granby Street) will continue.
Crews will mobilize equipment to the site which will support the jet grout operation. The equipment will be set up in the old Granby Street/Bay State Road park. This operation will inject grout into the voids at the corners of the support of excavation system to seal the voids.
As activity in and around the site begins to increase, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered.
We will continue to provide you with up-to-date information via these notifications.
