During the weekend of November 21:

  • There will be no work on the GSDM site this weekend.

During the week starting November 23:

  • Following the receipt of the certification of occupancy for the Phase 3 fifth-floor patient treatment center, the focus this week will be on final equipment installations, finishing touches and cleaning, and the continued move-in of GSDM in preparation for the start of patient care on December 14, 2020.
  • Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no work on-site on Thursday, November 26. The site will reopen on Friday, November 27 as a regular workday.
  • On Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, night-shift work will continue, starting at 10 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m. During this time, crews will continue working on the replacement of fourteen vertical waste pipes that run from the first floor to the fourth floor. The work areas that provide access to these pipes are in corridors and stairwells. Each location will require several nights of work to replace the pipes and then patch in the holes in the drywall or masonry. At the end of each shift, at all work locations, temporary panels will be installed over each access hole prior to GSDM opening in the morning. These activities will continue through mid-December.

  • On Wednesday, November 25, a small crew will be working in the new first-floor auditorium for the entire day. Workers will be shifting audio visual equipment to new locations in the auditorium to improve camera views and maximize opportunities for use by faculty for presentations and virtual learning sessions.
  • Also during the night shift, the remaining older mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in stairwells 1 and 2 will be demolished and removed. These systems have already been replaced with new systems as part of Phase 2 of the renovation project. This demolition work will take approximately two weeks.
  • Crews will continue preparing for the installation of new emergency smoke curtains in the elevator lobbies on floors one through seven within the elevator construction area in the existing building. Work will also continue  on the renovation of the second elevator following a successful inspection by the State Inspector last week.
