During the weekend of January 9:

  • On Saturday, January 9, a work crew will be removing demolition debris from the sixth-floor existing patient treatment center, taking advantage of the building with fewer weekday occupants.

During the week starting January 11:

  • From Sunday, January 10, through Thursday, January 14, night-shift work will resume from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. with crews continuing to paint the newly installed handrails, the underside of the stairs, and the walls in the stairwells.
  • Phase 4 renovation work in the new sixth-floor patient treatment center will continue this week, focusing on completing demolition and removing the older remaining mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. On Thursday, installation of new above-ceiling electrical, tele data, plumbing, and mechanical systems will begin.
  • At the end of the week, crews will begin work needed to raise the sixth-floor existing main plumbing pipes to ceiling heights required by the Department of Public Health. This work will include relocating plumbing pipes that serve the seventh-floor dental chairs. This will not affect operation of the seventh-floor Dental Health Center and patient treatment centers.
  • Upgrades to the existing second elevator will continue in the existing GSDM building, with crews working in the shaft and penthouse elevator mechanical room.

  • GSDM COVID-19 information: http://www.bu.edu/dental/covid-19-information/. This web page is a repository of all communications issued to the school community by the GSDM leadership. It also includes links to the Boston University and Boston University Medical Campus COVID-19 websites.

Please be sure to note all directional signage and markings within the GSDM building and the designated stairs for travel between floors. Circulation may be revised to accommodate both construction and proper physical distancing as the school continues to evolve plans and operations for the phased re-opening and increased number of people in the school. These actions align with the COVID-19 guidelines issued by state regulatory agencies and by Boston University.

We hope that you remain safe and healthy as we start the new year and the final phase of the GSDM addition and renovation project.
