Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 11/5/21
During the weekend of November 6th
On Saturday, crews will be on site jacking the steel beams at the building’s cantilevers. At approximately 50 locations around the building, steel beams will be jacked to release the pressure off of the temporary shoring columns and allow them to be removed beginning next week.
Also on Saturday, crews will continue installation of elevators 4, 5, and 6 in the tower’s core. Intumescent fireproofing of the columns in the podium will continue.
It is anticipated that crews will return to the site on Sunday to complete the jacking operation.

During the week of November 8th
Following the jacking operation that occurred over the weekend, crews will begin removing the temporary shoring columns and beams supporting the building cantilevers.
Installation of the building’s stairs will continue. At “Stair B”, located north of the tower’s core, concrete will be placed up to the 20th floor.
In the tower’s subbasement and lower level, crews from the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors will continue fitting out the MEP systems. Drywall installation will continue.
On floors 2 through 17 of the tower, the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors will continue installing electrical conduit, hangers, and piping. Wall layout and framing will continue on the lower floors of the tower.
Crews will be applying a fireproof coating on the interior steel beams and columns for the tower’s 15th and 16th-floor framing (working from the 14th and 15th floors respectively) and a white fireproof coating on the exterior columns for the 3rd and 4th floors in the podium.
The elevator subcontractor will continue installing equipment, rails, and platforms for elevators 4, 5, and 6, located on the south side of the tower’s core.
Trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
