Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 11/23/21

During the weekend of November 27th

  • On Saturday, removal of the temporary shoring columns and beams supporting the building’s cantilevers will continue. Crews will also continue installation of rails and platforms for elevators 4, 5, and 6 in the tower’s core. Intumescent fireproofing of the columns in the podium and spray fireproofing of the columns and beams in the tower, installation of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical (MEP) rough, and installation of tarps to enclose the upper floors of the tower ahead of the coming winter weather will also continue.

During the week of November 29th

  • Removal of the temporary shoring columns and beams supporting the building’s cantilevers will continue through the end of the week.
  • In the tower’s subbasement and lower level, crews from the MEP subcontractors will continue installing the MEP systems. Drywall installation will also continue.
  • On floors 2 through 19 of the tower, the MEP subcontractors will continue installing electrical conduit, hangers, and piping.
  • Crews will continue applying a fireproof coating to the interior steel beams and columns for the tower’s 17th and 18th-floor framing (working from the 16th and 17th floors respectively) and a white fireproof coating on the exterior columns.
  • The elevator subcontractor will continue installing equipment, rails, and platforms for elevators 4, 5, and 6, located on the south side of the tower’s core.
  • In the podium, installation of above ceiling sprinkler pipe, ductwork, plumbing pipe, and electrical roughs-ins will continue on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Wall framing will continue throughout.
  • Crews will be preparing for curtain wall installation in the tower by adjusting anchors and receiving and assembling panels on the lower floors.
  • During second shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm, crews will be on site removing the temporary shoring steel from the lower level.
  • Trucking activity to and from the site will be occurring daily with trucks entering and exiting the designated gates.
