Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 7/29/22
During the weekend of July 30th
- On Saturday, crews will be working from the elevated platforms continuing the installation of panels at the 5th and 17th-floor soffits.
- Also on Saturday, in the interior of the building, installation of the atrium’s monumental stair and tower’s communicating stair will continue. Removal of the scaffolding above the sit-step will continue. Framing, hanging, and finishing drywall will advance in the tower. Crews from the mechanical and electrical subcontractors will be on site continuing the connections and startup of their respective systems.
- Deliveries for miscellaneous materials will also occur throughout the day.

During the week of August 1st
- At the atrium, crews continue to install the guardrails for the monumental stair. Installation of mechanical systems and the atrium’s ceiling will continue. Framing for the finish wall paneling will begin.
- On the ground floor, installation of stone flooring will continue.
- Installation of finishes will continue throughout. On the lower floors of the tower and in the podium, installation of whiteboards, cabinetry, wood and acoustical ceilings, interior glass, and doors continue.
- Removal of the scaffolding above the second floor sit-step will occur.
- The elevator subcontractor will continue the installation of elevators 1, 2, and 3 including construction of the cabs and installation of flooring on the north side of the core.
- Installation of the green roofing system continues at the 5th floor. Roofing installation continues at the 15th floor terrace. Installation of the metal roofing system on the 20th floor continues.
- Framing and metal panel installation continues at the soffit at the underside of the 5th and 17th floors.
- Installation continues with the structural components of stair F, the communicating stair connecting the tower’s 5th through 17th floors. This will be followed by the railing and facia installation.
- Exterior sitework continues on all sides of the building, preparations for new sidewalks continue along Commonwealth Avenue, and retaining wall installation continues at the rear of the Bay State Road brownstones
- Crews will continue working on east side of Granby Street. The fence line has moved west to allow for this sitework activity. This includes installation of streetlight pole bases and landscape planter concrete work ahead of curb resetting, as well as bike lane/sidewalk layout. Parking along the west side of Granby Street has been removed to allow two lanes of vehicular access during this sitework. The pedestrian sidewalk on the west side of Granby Street remains open and accessible.
- The project will continue utilizing a second shift, from 3pm to 11pm, Monday through Friday to advance interior work, accommodate off-hour deliveries and material loading, and trash removal.
