Move-In Week Traffic Management Plan
General Project Information
After Friday, August 26th, the daily work hours will go back to 7 am – 3:30 pm daily. The 6 am start time for any interior work will no longer be in effect.
The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department. (Implementation of plan underway this week into next).
Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. City sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is now permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
Bike lane painting is completed and bike lane fully functional.
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain ano-parking zone.This will continue for the duration of the project to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allowing for the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.
Kilachand Hall will be unoccupied until August 19th, 2022 while construction gets under way. There will be no access to anyone other than the project team and BU trade shops. August 19this the start of RA move-ins for the fall semester, August 29this the campus wide move-in date.

Saturday, August 20th (7 am – 3:30 pm)
Work hours for interior work will change to a 6 am – 3:30 pm shift. All exterior work remains a 7 am start time.
Safway – hoist operator
Egan will be on site completing any shower caulking and punch list items.
NewBama, Inc. and Badd Bros, Inc. – Structural steel installation for elevator hoistway and stairwell, working on floors 1 and 2.
SOS will be on site continuing with slab demo at areas of new elevator hoistway and stair core.
Riggs team will have carpenters on site finishing the adjustable shelving installation in the dorm rooms.
Riggs will have a team on site providing onsite support and clean-up.
Consigli Construction will have staff on site for job site supervision.
9th-floor abatement and demolition wrapping up.
During the week of August 22nd
BrandSafway will complete any miscellaneous scaffold work and clean up.
Riggs masonry will continue with the demolition of the last few building corners to completion.
Riggs masonry to continue with new lintel installation and waterproofing details at window headers throughout the west and east elevations. Building corner build back will begin.
Badd Brothers, Inc. steel erectors finishing structural steel installation at lower floors and continuing with welded connections.
SOS will be continuing with slab demo in the area of the new elevator hoistway and stairwell core. Costello finishing up flooring removal at level 9.
Mass Acoustics to continue framing in isolated construction areas on each floor.
Murphy electric will be working on miscellaneous emergency electric room scope.
Consigli and Riggs team to support final punch list and clean up throughout dormitory in preparation for move-in week.
BU Custodial to continue working through the entire dorm performing various maintenance activities and final cleaning.
Security desk in the main lobby will be staffed for the fall semester starting on Saturday the 20th at 8 am.
The temporary mailroom, now located in the main lobby, will also be activated for use on the 20th.
Covered walkway for student access to be completed this week.
