Center for Computing & Data Sciences – Construction Update – 11/4/22

During the weekend of November 5th

  • On Saturday, on the interior of the building, crews will continue installation of the finishes around the atrium’s monumental stair. Installation of ceilings will continue on the upper floors of the tower. The final coat of paint will be applied to the stairs and walls throughout. At the terraces, guardrails, and green roof, materials will continue to be installed.
  • At the exterior of the building, installation of landscape site features, curbing, and sidewalks continue.
  • On Sunday, crews will return to the site to continue to install finishes in high-traffic areas, such as the ground floor, elevator lobbies, and stairways.
  • Deliveries for miscellaneous materials will also occur throughout the day

During the week of November 7th

  • Crews continue installing finish wall panels and the finished ceiling system around the atrium. The finished material at the stair guardrails continues to be installed.
  • Installation of finishes will continue throughout, including white boards, corner guards, cabinetry, wood and acoustical ceilings, interior glass walls, doors, final paint, polishing concrete floors, office carpet, and plumbing fixtures.
  • On the terraces, installation of green roof material continue.
  • On the 17th floor, crews will continue installing wood flooring in the corridors and the event space.
  • Start-up, testing, and commissioning of building systems continues.
  • Starting Monday, the pedestrian travel path will shift from the existing bike lane to utilize the new Commonwealth Ave sidewalks. Please be aware of directional signage in the area.
  • Exterior site work continues, and retaining wall, ramp, stair, and planter installation continue at the lane way between the Center for Computing & Data Sciences and the rear of the Bay State Road brownstones. Following the shift to pedestrians utilizing the new Commonwealth Avenue sidewalks, crews will begin to reset the granite curbing.
  • On Wednesdays & Thursdays, crews will be placing asphalt paving as the finished surface for the lane way extending from Granby Street to the rear of Sargent College. This activity will produce a gasoline-like odor and vibrations while compacting.
  • Deliveries and assembly of office furniture will continue, working up the building.
  • The project will continue utilizing a second shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm, Monday through Friday to advance interior work, accommodate off-hour deliveries and material loading, and debris removal. Select subcontractors will continue working on the third shift, from 11 pm to 7 am, to advance the start-up and testing of building systems while the workforce is less than during normal business hours.
  • Please be aware in addition to daily deliveries, trucks with large trailers will be staged adjacent to and moving around the site and pedestrians should be aware of all safety and directional signage in the areas as pedestrian and vehicle travel paths may be altered.
