Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 3/31/23

General Project Information

Daily Work Hours from 7 am – 3 pm.
The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
- Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
- Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
- Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.

Consigli – On site for supervision.
Riggs Laborers – Supporting cleanup, organization, and weather protection. Removing the heater on level 9.
Riggs Masons – Placing concrete at the stairs on levels 2 through 8.
Royal Steam – Working on the stair pressurization duct installation and the in-wall pluming on level 9. Will also be doing some mechanical room rough-in work on level 9.
Badd Bros – Detailing of the screen walls on the southeast and southwest roofs. Connections will be placed on level 8.
Salem – Glass installation and load in of new glass in the northwest wing.
Murphy – Will be placing finishes on levels 2 through 8.
Mass Acoustics – Will be framing floors and knee walls in the northeast wing and working on the shaft wall on level 8.
Safway – One person on site operating the hoist.

Egan Painting will be sanding and painting the 2nd floor exterior balconies. Suites 206L/R, 207L/R, 208 and 209R can expect a painter outside their window sometime this week.
Final roofing material being installed at the small terrace roof on level 7 in front of 709R.
Riggs Masonry is working on a punch list for the south elevation.
Badd Bros is completing the new steel stair installation. They will also be working on structural reinforcement details on level 8, as well as screen wall detailing on level 9.
Royal Steam Plumbing and Murphy Electric will continue with rough-in work on levels 7, 8, and 9.
Mass Acoustics continues with the raised floor and knee wall framing on level 9, spray foam insulation of exterior wall locations, and exterior wall tie-ins. Level 8 rebuild around the steel reinforcement should also get under way.
Salem Glass continues with the glass installation in the northeast and northwest wings of level 9.
RicMor Construction will be fireproofing at various locations on levels 8 and 9.
Egan Painting is continuing with priming and applying first coats of paint on levels 6 and 7.
Empire Masonry is working on elevator front infills.
Titan continues with the roof installation in all areas.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator mechanics are continuing with building out the new elevator cars.
Consigli/Riggs team is on site providing cleaning, site support, and supervision.
