Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 07/21/23
General Project Information
- Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 3 pm. (6 am for interior work)
- The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
- Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
- Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
- Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
- Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
- BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.

During the Weekend of July 22nd
- Consigli: Two workers on site providing site supervision.
- Mass Acoustics: Two people taping in the east stair and patching in the corridor.
- Murphy Electric: Four workers completing a miscellaneous worklist.
- Royal Steam: Installing runtal covers on the 9th floor.
- Egan Painting: Three people applying the prime coat in the east stair.
- JC Floors: Five people installing carpet on levels 8 and 4 and base on level 6.
- Badd Bros: Erection of west alley access platform.
- Riggs: Two carpenters and four laborers cleaning throughout, moving the Consigli field office, and forming sidewalks.
During the Week of July 24th
- Royal Steam HVAC will be continuing with the level 9 finishes and controls close out.
- Murphy Electric to continue with miscellaneous work list/punch list items to prepare for the final building electrical inspection.
- Mass Acoustics tapers performing miscellaneous patchwork and punch list.
- Titan to start low roof demolition in select areas.
- JC Floors continuing corridor carpet installation on floors 1 through 5.
- Riggs masonry to continue work on the 2nd-floor low roof parapet.
- Egan Paint to continue with punch list work and re-painting of the east stair.
- Dow is back on site finishing the drainage tie-ins at the street, along with clean up in the west alley.
- Brightview will be on site next week to start restoring the landscape in front of the building.
- All contractors will be on call as Boston Fire Department continues with final testing throughout.
- Architectural and engineering teams to continue with punch list items on all floors.
- Consigli/Riggs team on-site for cleaning, site support, and supervision.
