Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 07/28/23

General Project Information

  • Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 4 pm. (6 am for interior work)
  • The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
    • Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
    • Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
    • Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
    • Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
  • BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.
Roof protection pads for equipment maintenance.

During the Weekend of July 29th

  • Consigli:  Two workers on site providing site supervision.
  • Royal Steam: Three people installing runtal covers and the branch controller.
  • Egan Painting: Four people completing punch list items and painting in the Residence Life office.
  • JC Floors: Two people installing carpet in the Residence Life office.
  • Brightview: Four workers installing pavers in the south lawn area.
  • Riggs: Three laborers cleaning throughout, two carpenters completing punch list items and installing lobby Moz Designs panels, and two masons performing a wash down on the 2nd-floor parapet.

During the Week of July 31st

  • Egan paint will be working through punch list items, touch-ups, and final paint throughout.
  • JC Floors will be working through the close-out of punch list items.
  • Royal Steam installing connections to VRF system branch controllers and testing. This team will also be working on the commissioning of equipment and system controls with Schneider Electric.
  • Murphy Electric will be completing miscellaneous punch list items and close out.
  • SOS beginning final cleaning.
  • Titan roofing starting demolition of the low roof off of level 2 and completing punch list items on the high roofs.
  • Safway will remove scaffolding from the masonry work done on Back Street.
  • Solect Energy will be on site to install solar panels on the center roof.
  • Brightview continuing with the landscape/hardscape of the front yard.
  • Conisigli/Riggs team cleaning and finishing close out of punch lists and work lists.
  • The project is scheduled for turnover on Thursday, August 3rd.
