Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 08/04/23
General Project Information
- Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 4 pm. (6 am for interior work)
- The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
- Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
- Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
- Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
- Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
- BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.

During the Week of August 7th
- The project team has received their initial occupancy certificate, clearing the way for BU to remain on schedule for fall semester move-ins.
- Egan Paint working through the punch list, touch-ups, and final paint throughout.
- Royal Steam continuing with the final commissioning and startup of the VRF system on level 9.
- Murphy Electric is completing punch list items and close out.
- SOS performing final cleaning of renovation areas.
- Titan roofing finishing demo of low roof and beginning installation.
- Solect Energy continues to install solar panels on the roof.
- Brightview continues with the landscape/hardscape of the front yard.
- Conisigli/Riggs team cleaning and closing out punch and work lists.
- Olympia movers delivering and staging new dorm room furniture.
- Dow on site to start work on the north drainage system on Back Street.
