Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 08/11/23

General Project Information

  • Daily Work Hours from 6 am – 4 pm. (6 am for interior work)
  • The Traffic Management Plan for the project has been approved by the Boston Transportation Department and is in place.
    • Relocated accessible parking spaces posted for use on 6/29 (in front of 81 and 83 Bay State Road).
    • Jersey barrier site containment in place, pedestrian walkway also in place and operational. The city sidewalk in front of Kilachand Hall is permitted to be used as part of the construction site limits.
    • Boston police detail is on site daily assisting with traffic control and safety.
    • Bike lane is fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
  • BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue for the project duration to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow the construction team to safely contain a work area north of the dormitory.

During the Weekend of August 12th

  • Consigli – On site for supervision.
  • Titan Roofing – Two people working on the lower roof and upper roof detailing.
  • Riggs – Two masons and two laborers replacing sills on the back roof and taking care of general housekeeping.
  • Brightview – Three landscapers placing loam.

During the Week of August 14th

  • Sidewalk access in front of Kilachand Hall will be available after work hours during the day as the team works towards demobilizing from the construction area.
  • Egan Paint working through the punch list, touch-ups, and final paint throughout.
  • SOS performing final cleaning of the renovation areas.
  • Titan roofing finishing the installation of the low roof on Back Street.
  • Solect Energy continues to install solar panels on the roof.
  • Brightview to start plantings in the front yard.
  • Conisigli/Riggs team cleaning and closing out punch list and work list items.
  • Dow on site to continue work on the north drainage system on Back Street.
